They involve only groundwork with the horses, in which the participant's actions are observed and discussed afterward.
Interactions with horses are much more dynamic than conventional counseling. Horses are prey animals that are always concerned with their personal safety, therefore they constantly search their surroundings for dangers and inconsistencies. Horses usually respond to a person in a way that targets the root issues that need to be addressed. Non verbal communication is picked up and mirrored by the horses, virtually forcing participants to "come clean" with their true feelings and begin dealing with their problems then and there. Exercises are meant not only to reveal problems, but to find Biblical solutions.
